“Who will hear these lessons from the past and see the ruin that awaits you in the future?” (Isaiah 42:23 NLT)

George Santayana (1863-1952), was a philosopher, essayist, poet, and novelist. He is most famous for saying in his book, Reason in Common Sense:

“Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it.”

This a quote I have used many times myself in regard to people’s behavior and why we seem to repeat unnecessary spiritual failures as individuals & as a nation.

When the Lord said this near-verbatim quote of Santayana to Isaiah, He was weary of His people’s repeated spiritual failures & the lack of understanding that consequences always follow & always hurt. Has anything changed today? Not really. People make the same mistakes but hope for a different outcome. Or at least hope that God’s not watching this time.

On this last day of 2013, it’s a good day to ask God for help to change. No one desires to keep failing at the same places of weakness. Ask God to create a new you for 2014, then let Him do it! When God finally has authority, things will change! You are loved today! Run from ruin to resurrection!

“O Zion, messenger of good news, shout from the mountaintops! Shout it louder, O Jerusalem. Shout, and do not be afraid. Tell the towns of Judah, ‘Your God is coming!'” (Isaiah 40:9 NLT)

According to, Sociologists have developed elaborate theories of who spreads gossip and news, but they’ve had less success measuring what kind of information travels fastest. More recently, though, researchers at Penn dived deep into the archives of NY Times articles and found a surprising result — good news travels faster than bad!

We all long for hope in our lives, that’s why Jesus’ promised return is called The Blessed Hope. According to scripture, just as He came the first time as a man, so He will come back as King. We do not know exactly when, but biblical prophecy, which has shown itself to be accurate, alludes that it could be this generation that sees this Blessed Hope happen!

Bad news does travel fast, that’s no joke. But when your hurting, a good word is a quick healer! So be ready! He is coming! Whether just for you or for His whole Bride, you can bet on it! Be ready, b/c it could happen today! You are loved & Heaven waits for you! (12/30/13)
