Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.” (Proverbs 16:20 NLT)
King Edward III of England and his army crossed the English Channel in 1346, pillaging the French countryside before Philip VI of France caught up with them near the village of Crecy. With 11,000 longbows from England against France’s 40,000 infantry, it should’ve been a quick fight. But against Philip’s wishes, his troops advanced right into death and one of France’s worst battlefield losses.
It pays to listen to our leadership, but especially to God. We don’t like advice because it makes us feel incapable of succeeding on our own. But words from those that have “been there & done that” could save us from a worse humiliation.
Be a person that can receive advice as well as giving it. Learn the habit of hearing wise words from trusted lips and a more trusted Savior to help you live well. France can’t hide from the debacle at Crecy, but you can avoid it! You are loved today!
