They said to each other, ‘Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?'” (Luke 24:32 NLT)
The beauty I have found in living for God is that He blends worship and life to engage all of your senses and emotions. God Himself is seen in scripture as a Lord with emotions. While not fickle or petty, He does display anger as well as joy, sadness and jealousy. If God is described by emotion, then how could we think to live for Him without it?!
In this scripture, the disciples saw Jesus for the first time after his death, not recognizing him. Yet, when they felt the same stirring emotions that came while he was alive among them, understanding also came, which led to recognition. Amazing how just the presence of God can stir the emotions in creation!
Today, you need to be in the Lord’s presence. Come to church, knowing He’s there. Find time wherever you find yourself and let God be with you. His presence brings the emotional healing that we all need! You are made to feel loved today!
