You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world?” (1 Corinthians 3:3 NLT)
On December 11, 2011, a scuffle broke out among several women at the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Dubbed the “Communion Day Catfight”, several ladies finished the service with black eyes, swollen lips & broken hearts. The reason? Improprieties and accusations of immorality that got called out as the choir was stepping down before the sermon.
To know how strong your sin nature is, all you have to do is objectively watch how you think and act. We want to consider ourselves as “not so bad”, but the truth is quite a bit more startling! That’s why it is so important to see holiness as the changes God is working in you, not the covering up and denial we bring about.
As you go about your day, ask God to help you see how much you need his help to be holy. You will only become what you need to be by letting God do the work and staying strong by staying in His presence. Behave like a Christian should! You are loved today!
