Pastor Mike’s Minute Message: Flat Tires, Lightning Bolts, and The Footsteps of Jesus

Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.” (1 John 2:6 NLT)

As I write this, I am currently waiting on a tire to be fixed at the SEVENTH tire place I visited today. Who knew that I’m the only guy in the world that has a flat tire on a Saturday?! And as I hit ALL these tire shops only to find them closed, I feel like James and John, the disciples known as “The Sons of Thunder”, who asked Jesus for permission to light some folks up! Aaaaand then I come across this verse. Sigh…

The point of the Christ Life is to live as Jesus did. By trekking His steps, walking the same paths in the same manner, we find life more satisfying and repenting a lot less. After all, God said “Well done!” over how Jesus was living, but He hasn’t over me yet!

So, I live with questions like, “If Jesus had a flat tire, would He have it fixed or breathe air into it & it’ll never go flat again” and “Wouldn’t Jesus sic some she-bears on bad tire shop owners like Elisha did on some bad teenagers?!” Alas, I guess it’s just better to take a deep breath, pray for strength, put a smile on our faces and live! After all, we are greatly loved today!
