And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.” (I Timothy 6:8 NKJV)

According to a study published by the University of Kentucky in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh and Vanderbilt University Law School, lottery winners declare bankruptcy at twice the rate of the general population. Bud Post won $16.2 million in the Pennsylvania lottery in 1988, but was bankrupt one year later, now living on his Social Security. “I wish it never happened. It was totally a nightmare,” says Post.

We all suffer from a form of discontentment. Whether with money, job, marriage, or a host of other things, many daydream about what they are missing out on in life. “If only…” is our mantra! But things don’t bring contentment, only God does. By living gratefully with what you have, God can see your unselfish life and know He can trust you with more.

Remember that in this life we are simply stewards of what God gives us. If we spend what’s His like it’s ours, then blessing stops. If you struggle with discontent, ask God to change how you feel. A breakthrough is waiting for your permission to happen! You are loved today!
