All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:3 NLT)
Music Superstar Kanye West is a fortunate man. While his music sales have gone through the roof and his name is atop the industry, it seems that the hype has defined the man. In one interview with Tim Westwood, he described himself thus:
I’m going down as a legend, whether or not you like me or not. I am the new Jim Morrison. I am the new Kurt Cobain … The Bible had 20, 30, 40, 50 characters in it. You don’t think that I would be one of the characters of today’s modern Bible?”
The Apostle Peter walked personally with Jesus. By the time he wrote this epistle, he had “rock star” status among the early church groups. Yet, he knew where all praise belongs: To the God that makes all things possible and all men forgiven. For Peter, it was never about self, but only about lifting up The Lord.
Nobody can point a finger at Kanye, he’s only doing what we all do at some point. Pride is Satan’s way of stealing from God what is rightfully His. While it’s healthy to have a good esteem, give God the credit for all that you are. For apart from Him, the Bible says, we are nothing! But we are loved! Enjoy your day!
