I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith.” (John‬ ‭16‬:‭1‬ NLT)

The name of Benedict Arnold is synonymous with disloyalty. During the American Revolutionary War, Arnold began the war in the Continental Army, but later defected to the British Army. Interestingly, Congressional investigations later found Arnold had spent much of his own money on the American war effort. Apparently sickened by passed-over promotions and political accusation, Arnold lost faith in America and it’s future.

In this scripture, Jesus is warning His believers of coming tribulations. But His warning has a reason: So believers wouldn’t abandon their faith, or apostatize. People who know God can walk away from the safety of salvation. Many do so out of sinful temptations and desire, choosing that life over the Christ Life. But others out of pain experienced in a Church or at the hands of malicious “Christians”.

Hear these words today, there is no GOOD reason for abandoning your walk with Christ. No pleasure or anger is worth the price that will be paid for breaking faith. Sin is pleasant for a season & even good people can be jerks. But eternity is worth whatever pettiness we must endure! Stay faithful to the One who loves you above all! Have a great week!
