Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?” (Matthew 6:25 NLT)
Stephen R. Covey, author of numerous leadership books, shares his insight on the time wasters of our life: “Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important.” We chase what we believe is important only to look back years later and recognize that is was to please people that didn’t like us, to buy things that we gave away shortly thereafter, or to climb the corporate ladder only to find that we hated the job.
Jesus reminds us that we are meant for more than the trivial and the grandiose. Life is accomplished by enjoying the contentment of what we have and who we enjoy it with. By establishing Christ-centered priorities, we are saved from chasing what doesn’t matter and released to find those things that bring joy in this life and reward in the next.
With this being back-to-school time, it’s an excellent opportunity to revamp our priorities list. With my own life only four brief years from the Empty Nest, it’s makes me ask certain questions in order to see the better answers. Take time to truly appreciate the life God gave you! You are loved to live today!
