For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭9‬ NLT)

Jim brokers and sells used cars. He’s been in the business for many years. Sitting in his office is a book entitled “Everything I Know About Selling Cars”, but when you open it up, the pages are blank! In his words, just when you think you’ve seen it all, things change. His next book like it will be entitled “Everything That Men Know about Women”…

When I hear someone say, “Oh, I know all about that Jesus-Bible-Religion thing”, I shake my head out of equal parts humor and frustration. We think of God like He’s human, subject to all of our whims and failures. But just as we are much different from animals, so is God from us. He is way beyond our flaws, the best of what we desire to be! To know Him means we must change how we approach Him.

The best way to know God is to read the Bible. As you do, strip away the preconceived notions and prejudices that you normally associate with people and instead be open to a better idea. God is truly amazing and you are loved today! Start learning!

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners.” (1 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭15-16‬ NLT)

On March 5, 1986, Sean Sellers killed his mother and stepfather while they were asleep in the bedroom of their Oklahoma City home. Claiming to be a Satanist and possessed at the time, Sellers later converted to Christianity, using this platform to minister to others prior to his execution.

Nobody would argue about Sellers’ identity as an “über sinner”, the worst of the worst. But so are we. The hard truth is that no one deserves Heaven because we all willfully disobey God. Yet His great patience and mercy allows us to be included into both Heaven’s reward and Mercy’s showcase.

As you live his week, take time to allow God to show you where you need to simmer down or become stronger, then give Him the permission to gently change you. While Sean Sellers paid for his crimes against humanity, he also had the chance to fully embrace mercy. Only Jesus holds out that kind of a deal! Take it! You are loved today! (9/29/14)

I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.” (Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ NLT)

Canadian-born Guy Laliberté began his circus career on the streets: playing accordion, walking on stilts and eating fire. He gambled by bringing a successful troupe from Quebec to the Los Angeles Arts Festival in 1987, with no return fare. The bet paid off, and the circus group was brought to Las Vegas, where they became the world famous Cirque du Soleil we know today, making Guy a very rich guy.

I love rags-to-riches stories, but most of us never get to have one. The secret Paul speaks of is simply being content with any circumstance, knowing that if God is in charge of your life, then He will always provide for you. In His plan, both rags and riches are His avenue to use you to impact lives. If you’ve been faithful, then God will make sure you are well provided for.

Life is not about money or status. There are definitely worse things in life than being broke! Learn the secret to having a good life by finding your peace and contentment in God’s great care! You are loved today!

In this video, Pastor Mike talks about being mislead or getting off track in life by using a true story about Commander Edén Pastora of Nicaragua who almost lead a war against Costa Rica by following in accurate maps.

(The microphone audio in this video does sound very digitized because of the noise removal effects that were used to remove the very loud traffic that was near us. We apologize for this issue and have since realized the lapel microphone was not on at the time of recording and used the audio from the camera as a back up.)

Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the LORD will be joyful.” (Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭20‬ NLT)

The government is at it again. Recent local rulings in Fayetteville have State lawmakers creating legislation to protect businesses and ministries from groups whose values conflict with Judeo-Christian beliefs. Seems that within America’s near future, citizens will be found guilty and jailed for discrimination while blind eyes are turned against the discrimination of the 1st amendment and the sanctity of religious beliefs.

As I sat with local pastors and legislators last night, learning of new bills to pass before the House on our protective, collective behalf, I couldn’t help but think of this verse. My trust is not completely in government rulings or the public’s fickle opinions, but in the Hand of my God who will only lead me where His grace shields me. Any other place would only leave me a nervous wreck!

As the political season begins to gear up, don’t be afraid to speak up and vote according to God’s Word. Evil can only reign if the good people will do nothing. But let your ultimate trust be in the God that no one can kick off the throne! We are held securely in Him, no matter the polling outcomes! You are loved today!

Great is God’s faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lamentations‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬ NLT)

The great American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson once remarked about the beauty of a new day: “Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This day is all that is good and fair. It is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on yesterdays.”

On this last day of Summer, a beautiful one here in Central Arkansas, it’s a good time to bid an old season goodbye and to welcome a new one in. Just as each new morning starts for me with a steaming cup of coffee, it also comes with the promise of new things and healing moments that God spent all night preparing while I slept. To imagine that God gives each of us the opportunity to start over everyday is the best feeling ever!

As you start your new day today and everyday, start it with a new mindset. You can choose to either dread it or embrace it. The difference is up to you! You are loved today!

This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” (1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ NLT)

Baseball legend Ted Williams’ career with the Boston Red Sox was marred, to a degree, by his sour and antagonistic relationship with the fans and media in Boston, and having led the Red Sox to just one American League pennant in his entire career (and no World Series titles). But as the last All-Star Game of the 20th century came back to Boston, it was was Williams who was awarded the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. And as the crowd came alive for that magical night, all old feelings were transformed into great praise and honor for the Splendid Splinter, the Hero of Hardball.

We have never done anything to deserve God’s grace, yet He offers it freely because of His great love. In spite of our rebellious attitude and His necessary corrective measures, when we finally yield our selfish will, Heaven welcomes us home greater than anything Fenway Park experienced in 1999!

As you get ready to come to church tomorrow, know that God’s love is greater than our failures. While we beat ourselves up for letting God down, He simply waits with open arms to bring you back to His love. Be grateful today for that amazing grace! See you tomorrow!
