Your voice will whisper from the ground like a ghost conjured up from the grave.” (Isaiah‬ ‭29‬:‭4‬ NLT)

Three pastors sat at a coffee shop talking, discussing amongst themselves about the right posture for prayer. One was an advocate for kneeling and wailing, the second chose standing with hands raised, while the third affirmed that pacing quietly worked best for him. A patron nearby decided to chime in: “I’m not a pastor, I just repair phone lines on the tall utility poles. But my best prayer was when I was hanging upside down by my tool belt, 40 feet up in he air!”

Prayer is an essential part of the Christ Life. Much like a marriage, if there’s no communication, then the relationship dries up. As the text suggests, sometimes our prayers are faint, issued from a place near death. Or it could be like Peter, when he walked on water but began to sink, crying out, “Lord, save me!” Both are effective.

Each person has their own way to comfortably pray. The posture isn’t a sacred thing. What is, is that we do it! Even if you feel like you have one foot in the grave, never stop praying! God hears and responds! You are loved today!
