But when you give to someone in need…give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” (Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭3-4‬ NLT)

Last year, a study in New Scientist revealed that people who engage in online activism for a charity are less likely to give than those who don’t. When asked to sign a given petition of their choice and then donate to the cause, overall giving of the signers was 30 percent lower than non-signers. In other words, signing the petition had made them noticeably stingier.

There are continuous needs around us all our life. Some we have a passion for. But our intention should never be to gain attention to our own image for helping. The ultimate goal should always be to meet needs where the needy are benefitted but God gets the glory.

The main emphasis of this scripture, however, is to be a giver. Be willing to give of your time, talents, and treasures to the projects or people that God lays on your heart. Your reward is in seeing people blessed, and then feeling the warmth of approval from your Heavenly Father! Be a giver this week! You are loved!

For even Jesus’ brothers didn’t believe in him.” (John‬ ‭7‬:‭5‬ NLT)

The New York Mets were the laughing stock of baseball through the 1960s, posting the worst win/loss record in baseball history. The joke at the time was which would happen first, a winning season by the Mets or Apollo 11 landing on the moon. Well, both got there the same year in 1969. The Miracle Mets of 1969 shook the sports world by doing what no one thought could ever happen.

Sometimes we feel like that, like no one believes in us, that we really are special and can achieve in life or spiritually. Jesus knew how this felt. Personally. Both his family and His nation would largely reject Him. Yet notice that Jesus never stopped working and serving.

The day of silent skeptics in not found in the midst of our doing, but like with both Jesus and the Mets, in the completion of our work. Don’t be frustrated by people and their opinions. Trust in the One who KNOWS who you are and what He will accomplish through you! Completion will always quiet the critics! You are loved today!
