“Your laws are perfect and completely trustworthy. I am overwhelmed with indignation, for my enemies have disregarded your words.” ‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭119:138-139‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

This past week saw Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis thrown in jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. Disturbing as that whole scenario is (being jailed for your Christian beliefs), even more appalling was the statement issued by U.S. District Judge David Bunning, noted in the Friday edition of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazzette: “The idea of natural law (God’s law) superseding this court’s authority would be a dangerous precedent indeed.”

Sadly, this is what we are reduced to. Ignoring the fact that ALL of America’s legal foundations and rules of law were based upon God’s own laws as expressed through the Bible, we now see the heart of America’s dilemma, which is that Man and his varied opinions are now viewed as above the Creator’s. Fascinating…

The indignation of King David should be the indignation within our own hearts too. Sadly, I’m afraid it won’t be. Remember, that as Christians, we are held to a higher standard of accountability to a God that is watching. Then, come November, remember who stands against God’s laws as you enter the polling stations. May God have mercy on us today.

“At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: ‘O Father, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.'” (Matthew‬ ‭11:25‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

In November of 2013, 10-year-old Nathan Grey made a discovery, according to livescience.com. With the help of his father, Dave Lane, owner and operator of Abbey Ridge Conservatory in Stillwater Lake, Nova Scotia, little Nathan became the youngest person to ever discover a supernova, which is an exploding star. Not bad for an elementary student!

Just as a simple child can make a scientific discovery, so also does God help our simple minds to grasp His fantastic truths. If anything, the smarter we become in ourselves, the less likely we will be willing to accept God’s ways, preferring concrete evidence over faith and trust. God becomes too simple.

The truly wise are not just those with higher education degrees. What a shame to miss the most profound discovery of all, God’s love and grace, because we wanted something more rational and complex! Keep it simple! You are loved!

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”(Genesis‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

In 1909, paleontologist Charles Doolittle Walcott made an amazing find of fossils in Canada. He shipped over 60,000 pieces to the Smithsonian Museum where he kept his find a secret until his death. Once discovered, Walcott’s work was revived and several publications began ballyhooing “Biology’s Big Bang”.

One fascinating report was the Dec. 4, 1995, edition of TIME Magazine, which stated thus:

“In a burst of creativity like nothing before or since, nature appears to have sketched out the blueprints for virtually the whole of the animal kingdom. This explosion of biological diversity is described by scientists as biology’s Big Bang…There is no fossil record of life above the single cell and the brief appearance of the Ediacaran Fauna before the Cambrian explosion. There is no record of new phyla emerging later on, not even in the wake of mass extinction that occurred 250 million years ago, at the end of the Permian period.”

Without transitionary fossils, science is left wondering at the sudden appearance of life. But for the Christian, we know it as Creation, described in Genesis! God has a design for all life, including yours, and it’s still being unveiled today! Study deeper on God’s intelligent designs! You are loved! (9/1/15)

“Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Luke‬ ‭24:27‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

The Liber Linteus is an ancient text that dates back to the days of the Etruscans, a culture that flourished in Italy in the years prior to the rise of the Roman Empire. Wildly enough, this manuscript was once the wrappings on a mummy. Most of the Liber Linteus writings, which were removed from a female Egyptian mummy and later made into a book in the 19th century, can’t be translated because they were written in the little-understood Etruscan language. But what little scholars can understand reveals it to be some sort of ritual calendar.

While there are many works that exist in the world, both new and ancient, that are indecipherable, the Bible was never meant to be one of them. For that very reason, the Lord sent the Holy Spirit to help us understand who we worship, how we are to live, and even to make sense of futuristic prophetic writings.

As you come to church today, know that God does not want to be an unsolved mystery in your life! Just as Jesus appeared to men on the way to Emmaus, He will make Himself known to you today too! Worship what you know by getting to know who you are worshipping! You are loved today!

“O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.” (Psalms‬ ‭63:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Each year, through a unique combination of sun, wind, water, temperatures, and elevations, a miraculous transformation occurs: American deserts begin to bloom! From around March to June, beautiful plants and flowers begin to pop up and open, drawing crowds from around the nation. It’s a beautiful sight to see!

In one of his devotional insights, Greg Rowden has this thought:

“Do you find yourself easily angered, your patience is running thin, and perhaps your optimism has worn down? This happens when we don’t connect with the Lord on a regular basis. Especially during the summer and our schedules get hectic, taking time out to spend with God can be often overlooked.”

Summer fun can lead to a dried up spirit. If you neglect God for vacation, you’ll find your rest not quite as restful! Get with God and into His words today. Come to church if one is nearby! Life can create its own spiritual deserts, but you can choose to make it bloom! Be refreshed in God! You are loved today!

“You gave me life and showed me your unfailing love. My life was preserved by your care.” (Job‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬ NLT)

Lake Natron in Tanzania is one of the most serene lakes in Africa, but it’s also seemingly mythological, appearing to turn living animals to stone! The water’s alkalinity comes from the minerals that flow into the lake from the surrounding hills. And deposits of sodium carbonate — which was once used in Egyptian mummification — also acts as a fantastic type of preservative for those animals unlucky enough to die in its waters, appearing to turn them into stone!

While the caustic waters of Lake Natron only preserve after it has eaten away life, God preserves our life from destruction. Yet to a life undedicated to Him, it risks the ruin of itself due to the erosive nature of sin, selfishness, and self-destruction based upon Free Choice, which is not free from consequence. This dissolved life now stands as a monument to the world as stark as flamingo skeletons in briny waters. But does anyone notice?

Take today to REALLY LOOK at lives around you. Pay attention to more than gaudy trappings and sparkling laughter. Look in the eyes for life! See for yourselves the devastation of sin and the sweetness of salvation! Where lives are truly saved, God creates monuments of testimony! You are loved today!

“For the word of the LORD holds true, and we can trust everything he does.” (Psalms‬ ‭33‬:‭4‬ NLT)

In the book, Double Agent by Peter Duffy, we meet a guy named William Sebold. Sebold left New York City in 1939 to visit family in Germany. While there, however, he was “recruited” by the Nazis to work for them as a spy against America or else be jailed, or worse.

Upon arriving home, Sebold instead went straight to the FBI, explaining the situation and volunteered his services as a double agent for America. Over the next two years, he would use cunning and deceit, a spy’s greatest tools, to singlehandedly bring down a major Nazi spy ring, leading to the conviction of some 33 enemy agents!

While deception may work in the world, it is never a ploy used by our great God. When He speaks into your life, it is always truth and will happen! Come to church today and let God speak you again! You can trust His love for you!
