Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” (1 Corinthians 15:58 NLT)

Last night, my family and I got to see a college theatrical performance of “Guys & Dolls”, complete with exquisite backdrops and a live orchestra. Wow! I was blown away by how professional it was done. You could tell these students had put a lot of time and effort into it, and performed with so much heart.

In your local church, how involved do you get in it’s operations and activities? It takes on average 30 people doing a single job to produce a Sunday morning service. What about special events or outreaches? If it’s the same 6 people doin all the work, you’ll eventually lose what you have.

The enthusiasm that the students had for a show that would last one week should be the same enthusiasm we put into the church every week! It’s easy to complain about what you’re not involved in! Get involved with all you have! All the effort makes an eternal difference! You are loved today!

The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.” (Psalm 14:2 NIV)

Back in January, Expedition 38 commander Oleg Kotov and flight engineer Sergey Ryazanskiy opened the hatch to the space station, starting their second spacewalk in a month aimed at installing the cameras for Vancouver, Canada-based UrtheCast Corp. The company intends to use the cameras to “stream unprecedented footage” of the Earth to anyone with an internet connection. “In near real-time, you will be able to visit your favorite locales and learn about current events as they unfold,” the company advertised.

Everyday, God looks down here too, but for a different reason. He’s looking to find more of His children that will allow Him into their life. It’s not a far away, detached Daddy issue that keeps Him away, but the hardness of our own hearts. Yet, no matter the rejection, He still looks everyday to see who else will allow Him to come close.

Come to church today. Allow your own heart not to keep the Lord at a distance. Be willing to let Him use you to draw a far away heart back to a place of intimacy. He’s always near for those ready to be found! You are loved today! Look up!

But these people scoff at things they do not understand. Like unthinking animals, they do whatever their instincts tell them, and so they bring about their own destruction.” (Jude 1:10 NLT)

In this verse, Jude is mentioning dangerous people in the church. Prior to that, he was warning about dangerous angels and dangerous people in life. The moral of Jude? Be careful! There’s dangerous things in life!

We don’t quit living just because some things seem out of balance or people misbehave. Neither should we be ready to give up church when things of life show up there. Be wise, be gracious, but also be present. As the saying goes, evil reigns when good men do nothing.

Come to church today! Be willing to worship no matter who is there & make sure that Jude’s tale doesn’t apply to you! You’ll find many more like-minded people who are glad you came and ready to get there worship on with you! You are loved today!

What joy for those you choose to bring near, those who live in your holy courts! What festivities await us inside your holy Temple!” (Psalms 65:4 NLT)

Some of my best & favorite memories are of moments spent with those I worshipped with from the local church we were at. Marrying my best friend, my kids playing sports, trout fishing on the White River, walking in Jesus’ footsteps in Israel… All these moments and MANY more, and they all involve being involved with others at a church.

The Church was God’s creation, made as a basing point for God to meet with His people & a place where other spiritual pilgrims could find comfort and company for their own journey. While no church family is perfect, they are necessary. During our greatest, and most tragic, moments, we are surrounded by those who love us and long to either celebrate or comfort us. It’s a warm hearth in an often cold world.

Come to church today. Brand names on the door aren’t as important as the welcoming hearts inside of them! It was God’s architectural design for you to be there, so trust that He’s waiting there for you! It’s a good day to worship & make memories with your new family! You are loved today!

Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God.” (Hebrews 13:17 NLT)

Tonight, two teams that have proven their skill & heart will battle for the title of World Champions of Football. Man, I love the Super Bowl! (And especially the commercials!) For football fans, this is one of the greatest days!

But for the Christ Lifer, every Sunday is super. I have the privilege of leading the “field” every weekend with a fantastic team, fighting a very real Opponent, helping others overcome the evils of depression, hatred, sorrow & more, one yard after another, until we eventually hit our End Zone of Freedom and start over with other souls. Sometimes we experience a setback & one of our own gets intercepted, but we fight to get them back, fighting to keep our Enemy from scoring against us.

Every Sunday is truly Super! And one day, if we’ve fought the fight right, we will stand before our Savior & be crowned as Champions, our title that will never be stripped away! Come to church today! Your team is waiting for you! It’s a good day to win & you are loved!
