For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” (Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ NLT)

If you play tennis, the name Andre Agassi needs no introduction. Although he’s been retired for a while, he was the superstar extraordinaire of the courts. But did you know he actually hated the game?! In his own autobiography, he revealed, “I play tennis for a living even though I hate tennis, hate it with a dark and secret passion and always have.”

Everyone hates their job at some point or level. But what about the active Christian? Burnout is actually a common problem among those that carry the Cross. But burnout stems from a deeper problem: by relying on one’s own strength instead of a strength born exclusively from the intimate relationship with the God of our Calling and Equipping. Unplug from the source and you will never make it!

Our Bible verse tells us that it is God who gives you the “know how” and the “want to” in order to serve Him. By allowing Him to minister through you, He brings the success He wants while providing the joy you desire. Let God prevent burnout by doing the work instead! You are loved!

When the lord your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and occupy, he will clear away many nations ahead of you: the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.” (Deuteronomy 7:1 NLT)

Dream killers are people who constantly shoot down your aspirations with harsh negativity. When some people can’t see themselves reaching for the stars, they can’t, or rather don’t, want to see you reaching them as well. The sad thing is that some of the dream killers in your life don’t really offer words of “wisdom” with malice, but see themselves as just being “realistic.”

God had given Israel a dream, their own Promise Land. Their enemies were the “ites”, all the folks there before them that threatened to kill the dream. God was empowering His people to overcome their dream killers so that they could take hold of their dreams.

What stands in the way of your God-given dream? Let the Lord strengthen and encourage your faith to overcome those things or people. When God has a plan for you, He will see it through! You are loved today!

And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38 NLT)

Smith Wigglesworth was an illiterate plumber when God began to move upon him towards ministry. Having been taught to read by his wife, Polly, and finding new strength in the Holy Spirit, Smith would become a major proponent in early Pentecostalism at the turn of the 20th century.

While he was an extraordinary evangelist that made a huge impact spiritually, one still felt today, what I enjoy most about Smith is the fact that he was an ordinary man that God changed. Simple, everyday people like you & I can be used of God to change a world, but only if we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. Our wisdom & creativity mean nothing if it’s not led and strengthened by God Himself.

Live today knowing that your life matters. But if you want to make the most of how God made you, live on His terms, being used by God to help others the way that He knows works best. No matter how ordinary you think you are, God knows better! Be empowered to impact! You are loved today!
