“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” (Proverbs‬ ‭17‬:‭17‬ NKJV)

Dusty Bernier and Brian Huddleston grew up as close friends. They attended the same church, hung out together, even married sisters! Now in their early 30’s, their relationship has spanned many years. But then Dustin’s kidneys began to shut down, threatening his very life.

When no matches could be found, Brian, on a whim, decided to see if he was compatible. And sure enough, he was! And so yesterday morning, at a hospital in San Antonio, Texas, Brian gave life and hope to his best friend, Dustin, by giving him a kidney. You could almost say that their relationship was made for just this moment!

Decide today to be that kind of friend. Many will give to a certain point, but a true friend and brother/sister gives all that they have, all because of love. And say a special prayer for Dustin and Brian, that as they heal quickly, their lives and their story will continue to bless others! You are loved today! Love back!

It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the best man is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows.” (John 3:29 NLT)

Candace was a divorced mother of three, working hard in a management position to provide for her family. Because of all she had been through and overcome, she became he Patron Saint of Hurting Souls. Everyone needing help and assistance ran to Candace. Eventually, however, it overwhelmed her, leaving her emotionally broken and financially busted.

It is tempting to become superheroes when others have problems, flying in to save the day. But consider that maybe God allows problems to create strength & “heroes” can then become “robbers”! Oswald Chambers says it like his:

Over and over again, we try to be amateur providences in someone’s life. We are indeed amateurs, coming in and actually preventing God’s will and saying, ‘This person should not have to experience this difficulty.’ Instead of being friends of the Bridegroom, our sympathy gets in the way.”

Be a friend that stands by their side, rejoicing when they rejoice and weeping when they weep. But don’t try to solve all their problems for them; they need to learn for themselves. In the end, God will be their hero and strength, and you’ll share in their restoration! You are loved today!

As a result we were showered with honors, and when the time came to sail, people supplied us with everything we would need for the trip.” (Acts 28:10 NLT)

In 1833, French missionary Eugène Casalis went to South Africa to reach souls among the Basuto. With the help of friends, they taught new methods of farming, introduced new species of livestock, and brought domesticated cats to get rid of mice. This caused the Basuto to be grateful and hear the missionary message, which lead many to Christ and established a strong church there.

I’m grateful for those in my life that not only encouraged me to make a personal relationship with Jesus, but modeled it before me with grace and attractiveness, winning me with friendship instead of “preaching”. People still respond to our loving outreach through friendship! They are grateful for those who get out of their own life in order to take the time of getting into another’s.

Be empowered today to live personally as a Christ Lifer, letting God shine through your own life! God doesn’t need more preachers, He needs bridge builders! Find a friend in need and you’ll find an open avenue to share Christ’s love with a newly responsive soul! You are loved today!
