“Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Luke‬ ‭24:27‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

The Liber Linteus is an ancient text that dates back to the days of the Etruscans, a culture that flourished in Italy in the years prior to the rise of the Roman Empire. Wildly enough, this manuscript was once the wrappings on a mummy. Most of the Liber Linteus writings, which were removed from a female Egyptian mummy and later made into a book in the 19th century, can’t be translated because they were written in the little-understood Etruscan language. But what little scholars can understand reveals it to be some sort of ritual calendar.

While there are many works that exist in the world, both new and ancient, that are indecipherable, the Bible was never meant to be one of them. For that very reason, the Lord sent the Holy Spirit to help us understand who we worship, how we are to live, and even to make sense of futuristic prophetic writings.

As you come to church today, know that God does not want to be an unsolved mystery in your life! Just as Jesus appeared to men on the way to Emmaus, He will make Himself known to you today too! Worship what you know by getting to know who you are worshipping! You are loved today!

Anyone who wants to do the will of God will know whether my teaching is from God or is merely my own.” (John‬ ‭7‬:‭17‬ NLT)

On Friday, February 27th, Boris Nemtsov, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s biggest critics, was gunned down in public…and no one seems to have seen a thing. ABC News reported that there were 18 security cameras where the victim was shot multiple times in the back, and yet ALL OF THEM were either shut down or turned in other directions at the same moment. Can you say “Conspiracy Theory”?! Who’s side is telling the truth about it?

The critics of Jesus and His teachings go way past His earthly life to today. As a Pastor, I do have times when I have to defend His actual life, teachings, and relevancy in this modern age. One of the biggest questions I get asked is simply, how do you know it’s true? The answer can only be found when it’s asked with a faith that longs to believe.

The world will always abound with skeptics and conspiracy theories. The mystery of Jesus begins to demystify when the heart hungers for the things of God. A believer knows because they simply know. Have an open mind that allows God to reveal who He really is. If you’re seeking Him, He will be found! You are loved!

You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness.” (Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭28‬ NLT)

I can’t help but shake my head as the morning news/talk show reports about Apple’s CEO “coming out” with his sexual preferences. Seriously?! The whole world REALLY needs to know his intimacy preferences? With every other issue we face in our nation and world, the news sometimes amazes me by what they think is important.

The reason this is disturbing is because it shapes how people think and what they will view as important. Pop culture is like a Twinkie, good every now and then but not for a steady diet! And when the culture we are being fed celebrates what God cannot condone, it shapes a generation to choose their view over God’s, which is a losing proposition everytime.

As you live your day, ask God to enlighten your world as to what is important to Him. Even when the world says that God approves, always go back to His word for yourself. His light of knowledge cuts through the murky darkness of unstable disinformation. Be enlightened by His words today! You are loved!

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭9‬ NLT)

Jim brokers and sells used cars. He’s been in the business for many years. Sitting in his office is a book entitled “Everything I Know About Selling Cars”, but when you open it up, the pages are blank! In his words, just when you think you’ve seen it all, things change. His next book like it will be entitled “Everything That Men Know about Women”…

When I hear someone say, “Oh, I know all about that Jesus-Bible-Religion thing”, I shake my head out of equal parts humor and frustration. We think of God like He’s human, subject to all of our whims and failures. But just as we are much different from animals, so is God from us. He is way beyond our flaws, the best of what we desire to be! To know Him means we must change how we approach Him.

The best way to know God is to read the Bible. As you do, strip away the preconceived notions and prejudices that you normally associate with people and instead be open to a better idea. God is truly amazing and you are loved today! Start learning!

‘Sir,’ the woman said, ‘you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?'” (John‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬ NIV)

“Pastor, we have way too many Baby Christians and not enough tithers! We need to stop focusing on converts and start reaching out to mature believers, to bring them in instead.” I was a little stunned by what I was hearing. I know this precious person meant well, but their concept of evangelism was what we Pastors actually call “sheep stealing”, which is NOT part of God’s agenda. As I think back to that moment years ago, I still see a frustrated soul who had been in church all their life, yet missed God’s desire by a Mile.

As Jesus ministered to the woman at the well, she also was missing Jesus’ meaning, not grasping the spiritual revelation He was trying to give her. All she could understand was the physical need for water. Yet, because she hung in there, the Lord helped her to eventually see and understand His meaning, which caused this woman of bad character and reputation to become one of Jesus’ greatest evangelists!

Are you guilty of trying to explain away God without truly grasping Him yourself? Often times, we’re the last to know! Spend time in God’s presence today, allowing Him to correct you if necessary. The greatest shame is to know of God but never truly understand Him. Learn the true God of the Bible! You are loved today! Have a great weekend!

We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” (Colossians 1:9, 10 NLT)

According to an article at mastersinleadership.org, “10 Essential Traits of a Good Leader”, being clearly understandable is second only to being honest. Clarity & understanding is necessary, not only in business or education, but also in spiritual life too. Many have a vague understanding of God or the Bible at best, and yet keep stumbling along in ambiguity rather than pressing in for greater knowledge, largely because we either don’t like to read, are bored with church, or don’t have time to pray, the top 3 venues for gaining spiritual knowledge.

Paul’s desire & prayer for the people at Colosse was to grow in knowing God, for when we know Him & what pleases His heart, we will long to live in that manner. To know His will is also to know your path, your destined purposes in this life, and finding this brings much more satisfaction for life.

Come to church tomorrow, ready to experience God in the one place you know He desires for His people to be. Let Him, not you, place a desire in your heart for learning, growing & praying. God will give you the “want to”, then all you need accomplish is the “will do”! You are loved! See you tomorrow!
