Superior Court Judge W. Kent Hamlin learned a hard lesson. Bobby Lee Pearson walked out free from a slam dunk burglary case because a jury mistakenly signed a not-guilty verdict form when in reality it was a hung jury, meaning he could be tried again. In a twist of events, Pearson was stabbed to death as soon as he got home. “This has never happened to me in more than 100 jury trials that I have done,” Judge Hamlin lamented.
We all make mistakes, some just seem bigger than others. But failing at something doesn’t make you a failure, not if there’s something to gain from it. When we see how to not make the same mistake again, we “will be wiser still”. Sometimes the only way to make good decisions is to learn from our bad ones.
Don’t be afraid to own up to your mistakes. Pride results into catastrophes, many often repeated. But by acknowledging and learning from mistakes, respect and trust can be built again. Grow from your mistakes! You are loved unconditionally today!
