In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

On Aug. 8, a Starkville, MS, couple was arrested for conspiring and attempting to give material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – ISIL (now being called the Islamic State). Jaelyn Delshaun Young, 20 and Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla, 22, were charged with the crimes. When residents of Vicksburg, MS, found out, people were shocked. How could Young, a hometown girl, become a terrorist sympathizer? She was one of us!

All around us are people looking for something to live for. Even in the Bible Belt, some have grown weary of weak religion and are looking in other places. At the same time, Jesus is continuously reaching out to bring them home. But He needs real hands, real hearts, real Christ Life relationships, and real churches to bring them to. Are you that kind of person? Is your church that kind of place?

Be that person that creates life personally and in your house of worship! People are dying for something to live for. Lift Christ up honorably so He can draw them in Himself! You are loved today! (8/31/15)

“In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” (Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ NLT)

Ahhh, the Bahamas. The coastal attraction of the masses. Thousands flock to its sanctuary every year to escape the doldrums of life. Where else can you see such beautiful beaches, pristine waters, swimming pigs…wait! What?! Pigs?!

Apparently out on Big Major Cay, an uninhabited island, a population of aquatic swine have made headlines. There are various theories on how the wild pigs first got to the island, but they certainly thrive there. They’ve come to associate humans with food and are rumored to be quite friendly. Upon spotting an incoming boat, the pigs leap into the water and paddle over, hoping for a snack.

Pigs in paradise is an oddity. But apparently so is being a person of godly, moral character. We are to be different for a reason! Let Christ shine in you so that people are drawn to the difference of how you live! You are loved today!

You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness.” (Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭28‬ NLT)

I can’t help but shake my head as the morning news/talk show reports about Apple’s CEO “coming out” with his sexual preferences. Seriously?! The whole world REALLY needs to know his intimacy preferences? With every other issue we face in our nation and world, the news sometimes amazes me by what they think is important.

The reason this is disturbing is because it shapes how people think and what they will view as important. Pop culture is like a Twinkie, good every now and then but not for a steady diet! And when the culture we are being fed celebrates what God cannot condone, it shapes a generation to choose their view over God’s, which is a losing proposition everytime.

As you live your day, ask God to enlighten your world as to what is important to Him. Even when the world says that God approves, always go back to His word for yourself. His light of knowledge cuts through the murky darkness of unstable disinformation. Be enlightened by His words today! You are loved!

Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” (Matthew 5:16 NLT)

As we start our day today, we are confronted with the sad news that the original Child Star, Shirley Temple, just passed away. In her short career, she made over 40 films that won the hearts of America, particularly during the hard years of the Great Depression. She gave hope and smiles when many had nothing to smile about.

Another great American laid down his life yesterday too. Dennis Chanell was not famous, nor an actor, but he was a Father, Friend, and a Fireman that passed away immediately after responding to an emergency. While those outside Grant County, AR, will never know him, he made an impact much like Temple: He was there for people in their darkest hours, giving his life to help others rebuild theirs.

Your life is not about fame or fortune, but that you can help others, and by doing so, let them see God in action through you. Your life matters! Live it to help others smile with hope & you’ll find it was a life worth living! You are loved today!
