Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.” (Proverbs 11:4 NIV)

Angela Spaccia, the assistant city manager of Bell, CA, helped stuff hundreds of thousands of dollars into the pockets of the city’s top officials, including herself. Spaccia in one year alone took in $564,000. “Everyone’s greedy,” her defense attorney argued, “There’s no crime in taking too much money.” Jurors disagreed, finding Spaccia guilty on multiple counts of criminal behavior, including one misappropriation to the tune of $15.5 million!

Money is nice to have, but not worth ruining your life for. People destroy themselves chasing after things that matter less than what is really important, like family, peace, and contentment. Yet greed will take you a step further into the dark side by causing you to have a lesser regard for integrity, truth, and the things that please the heart of God.

Take time to review your priorities, what’s important to you. Money can’t buy everything, especially the important stuff, but it can destroy it. Work hard, plan your life right, then be content with what God blesses you with! After all, you can’t take it with you! You are loved today!
