“So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you.” (Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ NLT)

In the rural south, High School football is king! When the Friday Night Lights go on, many communities shut down and become ghost towns. For a brief period in the fall, a whole community gathers in the bonds of brotherhood and school pride, making memories that last a lifetime. But great teams are made on Monday morning, not Friday night.

In the Bible, ‘Sanctification‘ simply means to be set apart for God’s use and glory. Oswald Chambers describes our struggle to be set apart this way:

“Sanctification requires our coming to the place of death…There is always a tremendous battle before sanctification is realized—something within us pushing with resentment against the demands of Christ. When the Holy Spirit begins to show us what sanctification means, the struggle starts.”

Just as great High School football players are fashioned in the heat and struggle of practice, so too are spiritual warriors created through the heated battle in their own souls. Allow your old nature to be conquered and you will see a better You be raised up for others to follow! Let your own light shine by fighting the personal fight to be holy every morning! You are loved today!

Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things.” (Isaiah 40:26 NKJV)

Ahhhh, Spring! After a particularly cold and icy Global Warming Winter, I’m ready to thaw! I’ve been enjoying my daily commute to the office across the street. I listen to a cacophony of birds singing, watch the grass beginning to green, and see the yellow daffodils blossoming along the roadway. With the sun’s warmth beaming down on me like a turtle on a log, I’m soaking it in!

Part of the reason we fail to comprehend what a great God we have is due in a large part to our lack of imagination. We can daydream all day long, usually about the same ol’ negative stuff, but fail to take into account how creative and artistic our God is. The dawn’s beautiful hues painted across the sky at daybreak, the the green grass being clothed with a gorgeous wardrobe of flowers that perfume the land, and stars that twinkle on a dark canvas after being breathed into existence and named, all speak of a thoughtful and artistic Lord that has only one audience to please: us!

If the day is beautiful where you’re at, enjoy the day that he’s made! Nature is God’s tapestry of love, compelling us to see His existence through the things He has created for you to enjoy, just as He does. It’s a wonderful weekend to thaw our hearts and skin! You are loved! Seize the day!
