“John said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, we saw someone using your name to cast out demons, but we told him to stop because he wasn’t in our group.'” ‭‭(Mark‬ ‭9:38‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

On May 29, 2015, Tavin Terrell Price was fatally shot in front of his mother as they were headed to a beach near Los Angeles. According to KTLA 5 News, LAPD arrested 3 men and a woman as suspects in the murder. Their reasoning for the brutal slaying of the 19-year-old mentally challenged man? Because he wore red shoes, the apparent sign of a rival gang. Red shoes…

It’s never an enjoyable experience to be treated badly because you’re not a part of a certain crowd or believe like some group. Even Jesus had to correct His disciples for falling into the trap of excluding people. Jesus, however, was the opposite, desiring for all to come to the Master’s Table and belong.

Take time today to make sure you aren’t prejudiced in your own thinking. While we may pride ourselves for being color blind, we often fail because we withhold our friendship because someone is from another denomination or religion. Let God’s love help you to build bridges, not burn them all down! There’s room at the table! You are loved today!

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭9‬ NLT)

Jim brokers and sells used cars. He’s been in the business for many years. Sitting in his office is a book entitled “Everything I Know About Selling Cars”, but when you open it up, the pages are blank! In his words, just when you think you’ve seen it all, things change. His next book like it will be entitled “Everything That Men Know about Women”…

When I hear someone say, “Oh, I know all about that Jesus-Bible-Religion thing”, I shake my head out of equal parts humor and frustration. We think of God like He’s human, subject to all of our whims and failures. But just as we are much different from animals, so is God from us. He is way beyond our flaws, the best of what we desire to be! To know Him means we must change how we approach Him.

The best way to know God is to read the Bible. As you do, strip away the preconceived notions and prejudices that you normally associate with people and instead be open to a better idea. God is truly amazing and you are loved today! Start learning!

Those deserving to die must be put to death for their own crimes…When you gather the grapes in your vineyard, don’t glean the vines after they are picked. Leave the remaining grapes for the foreigners, orphans, and widows.” (Deuteronomy 24:16, 21 NLT)

At Dictionary.com, the term “Equity” is defined as ‘1. the quality of being fair or impartial; fairness; impartiality: the equity of Solomon.
2. something that is fair and just: the equities of our criminal-justice system.’ It is a term that implies that there is no corruption, prejudice, or falsehood.

Our God is the God of Equity, establishing justice for all. He does mandate the death penalty as well as providing welfare. At the same time, He is not a harsh dictator nor a rewarder of laziness. His equity is pure because His character is pure, a concept we fail to grasp because 100% of humanity is not! Because the Lord is truly holy, his laws are never contrary, but always appropriate.

Be careful in your own passing of judgments and opinion forming. We are bound by both law’s reaction and mercy’s touch. Do not ascribe your shortcomings to God, nor take these things lightly. Live to embrace and exude equity to the unbalanced world around you, as a light in dark places! You are loved today!
