“The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind…differing from each other in their glory.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭41‬ NLT)

According to Fox News, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft made its historic flyby of Pluto early Wednesday after travelling 3 billion miles on its epic 9 and a half year journey to the dwarf PLANET (sorry, bitter nerd emphasis). It has passed within 7,767 miles of Pluto, roughly the distance between Sydney and Seattle. Earlier images had allowed scientists to identify a pattern of terrain on Pluto’s surface, and all data should be home by October 2016.

Astronomy is fascinating to me! To watch and observe these celestial bodies and gatherings makes me in awe of just how large and complex our universe and beyond really is. And that always gives me a pause, realizing that my Creating God is that much larger than all of creation, than my little, petty problems.

We live in the presence of such universal and heavenly glory, and it bears remembering! Scholars and laymen alike try to push away its reality because of the mysterious unknown and lack of “empirical evidence” surrounding creation. But faith in God, born out of experience and tried by fire, will never be held hostage by another’s argument! Take time to look at Pluto today and remember what an awe-inspiring God you serve! You are loved!

“There is no Rock like our God. No one will succeed by strength alone.” (1 Samuel‬ ‭2‬:‭2, 9‬ NLT)

Katrina Sweet has spent most of her life looking for stability. Having been sexually abused in her home as well as her church, she was devastated and feeling as if nowhere was safe. As her latest destructive relationship fell apart, Katrina, single mother of two, drove to a nearby bridge to end her life of pain.

Sensing the need to give God one more chance, she prayed as she stared over the edge. “I remember praying one word,” she said later. “I cried one word, ‘Help!’ ‘Help’ is what I said. I feel like God heard my cry for help. And I didn’t know how my life was going to turn out; I just had a sense that everything was going to be okay.” Today, Katrina is recovered and leading others back from the brink.

Are you in a place where your strength isn’t enough to fix it? Our God is a strong and mighty Father, full of love and compassion for you, regardless of how you have felt towards Him. Turn to Him today, like Katrina, and let Him save the day! You are loved!

This town is located in pleasant surroundings, as you can see. But the water is bad, and the land is unproductive.” (2 Kings‬ ‭2‬:‭19‬ NLT)

It was one of those Mike-is-a-Moron  moments that happens WAY too often. My car just wasn’t running well: slow taking off, slowing down quickly when letting off the accelerator, sluggish in every aspect. And every where I went, it smelled like someone was burning a cat! My frustration meter was pinging like a fire alarm! And then I saw it. My emergency brake had been mashed and never released. All I could do was pop the pedal and shake my head. Problem solved.

Sometimes we wonder why our life stays off kilter. All the ingredients for good living are there, so why do I seem held back? Usually it’s because of internal problems in us, like a knack for negative thinking, a need for control, or being prone to fall for certain temptations. These issues, whatever they are, prevent us from living optimally and happily. If not dealt with, your life will be filled with nothing but failure and depression.

Are there areas of your life in which you repeatedly experience defeat and frustration? Does there seem to be an obstacle or barrier holding you back from the victories you hope to experience? Is it a struggle for you to be productive in certain aspects of your life? Let God give you a much-needed Life Inspection so you can be free. Life’s too short to stay down! Live well! You are loved today!

Then Elisha prayed, ‘O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!'” (2 Kings‬ ‭6‬:‭17‬ NLT)

David Douglas was a renowned Scottish botanist that helped pioneer North America in the 19th century, even having a fir tree named in his honor. He, however, mistakenly “found” two new mountains, calling them Mount Hooker and Mount Brown after two other famous botanists. But climbers never found these new mountains because they didn’t exist. It wasn’t until 70 years later that someone reread his journals and discovered the mistake, Douglas had made a “mountain” out of a “hill”.

We, too, often make big issues out of small things. When we are stressed and under pressure, it’s easy to magnify an issue that isn’t as serious as we think. Panic ensues and peace flies out the door like a spooked pheasant, leaving nothing behind but a new mess! And where there wasn’t a problem, there sure is one now!

Be like Elisha’s servant in the text and allow the Lord to open your eyes to the world as He sees it. It’s seldom as bad as you think! By looking at situations in your life correctly, they will maintain their correct proportion and so will your peace! You are loved today! Be at peace!

As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.” (Proverbs‬ ‭27‬:‭19‬ NLT)

In the state of Washington rises Mount Ranier– nearly three miles high– the greatest extinct volcano in America, outside of Alaska. It’s majesty is second to none! Not far away is the picturesque Reflection Lake, made famous in photos for capturing the twin beauty of Mt. Rainier. No matter what the conditions are on the mountain, you can see it clearly reflected upon the pristine waters.

Our life and actions serve as our personal Reflection Lake. If we are happy or sad, content or jealous, it is reflected for the world to see, except for the person themselves. We are usually the last to comprehend how our tone and posture telegraphs to others what’s going on inside. While we think we have our personal issues covered, the world sees our true reflection.

As you get your mind ready for church tomorrow, consider gazing into your own Reflection Lake. What do you see? How do you feel? If you notice that things aren’t just quite right, which we all come to, bring it to God. He waits everyday to make your heart free again! You are loved today!
