Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do.” (Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭5‬ NLT)

The Donner Party was a wagon train group that set out for California in 1846, but got trapped by snows in the Sierra Nevadas. Archeologists believe a Native American tribe, the Wel Mel Ti, tried to help these travelers, leaving everything from rabbits to potatoes at the edge of their camp. However, the pioneers shooting at them hampered relief efforts, and when the pioneers started EATING each other, well, a person can only help out so much!

Every where you look, there are people in need. Sometimes that person is us. By being a considerate person, people can see the genuineness of our spiritual life. Whether helping or being helped, good manners and right actions speak louder than any sermon we could preach!

As you go about your day, focus on allowing God to help you become considerate of others. Christ calls us to serve one another, even in our leadership roles. Don’t hurt those trying to help you, and don’t get flustered if others do! Be Jesus to the world around you. You are loved!

Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” (Psalm‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬ NIV)

It was around 2005. I owned a custom picture framing business in a military town during the War on Terror. As troops were mass deploying overseas, it made local money tight. In spite of being a luxury business in war time where other shops were closing down en masse, God brought me a steady stream of customers and commercial contracts, keeping my shop booming and my family and ministry provided for.

In my own life and that of others, I see abundant examples of God’s blessings in the middle of a season of need. Living the Christ Life faithfully doesn’t mean a life of ease without trials. It does, however, mean that God will take care of you. I may have to eat a steady diet of Spam and ramen noodles for a time, but I know that His promise of a turnaround still applies!

As one man said, favor ain’t fair! While some may feel they’ve earned it, I don’t. God’s blessings stem from His heart of mercy and my obedience to His instruction. I can’t earn it, but I’m willing to live right so that I may receive it! Let God’s favor wrap around you today! You are loved!

Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.” (Psalms‬ ‭37‬:‭1, 4‬ NLT)

In a joint study between the Universities of Florida and Virginia, researchers got couples to perform a series of five tasks focusing on social or intellectual achievements. They found that while successful results for the male partner made both participants feel happy, successful results for the female partner transformed her boyfriend into a seething bundle of hate. In the afterglow of their partners’ success, most men saw their self-esteem plummet, even if the two had not been in direct competition during the task. The outcome: Envy makes for lousy relationships!

It’s hard not to envy others that seem to have it all. As Christians, we can easily develop a “victim mentality”, that it’s God’s fault for not blessing our faithfulness the way Satan is blessing those blasphemous pagans, or some such silliness as that. We regret our sacrifice and commitment because we want “stuff”, forgetting in our state of misplaced melancholy that the only reward those without God get IS in this life, with a horrible pricetag to pay later.

Avoid the trap of envy, even of the lives of other believers. God gives you what He knows you can safely manage! Be faithful with what you have and more will be provided when God knows He can trust you! Faithfulness always leads to blessings! You are loved today! Behave!

The path of the upright is an open highway.” (Proverbs‬ ‭15‬:‭19‬ NLT)

A friend shared with me a frustrating God-moment she recently had. While driving in the rain from Oklahoma back home to Arkansas, her three hour trip wound up being twelve! Three different times she had to pull off the interstate with belt issues, twice having it replaced. Each time, God sent people to buy, deliver, and install them for free, even getting a meal in the deal! Each time she tried to pay them, they all responded with the exact same words: “This is what Christians do.”

God gave my friend an open Heaven of provision, meeting her need at every step. For those that helped her, God gave them an open avenue to help a stranger, fulfilling a scriptural command to help those in need, which also leads to blessings. So, for everyone involved in this adventure, there was an “open highway” that led each to a place of blessing and affirmation.

The main point of this devotion is to realize that we who journey the Christ Life highway must be ready to do what Christians do, and that is to help others. By living faithfully, we are also in a prime place to be helped when we need it. So live your “open highway” this week! God is faithful and you are loved by Him!

See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The LORD GOD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.” (Isaiah‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ NLT)

Jeff Rennell was among the motorists caught up in the tangle of nearly four dozen semi-tractor-trailers and passenger vehicles near Michigan City on I-94 in Indiana due to whiteout conditions which left three motorists dead and several injured back in January. “It was like an onion. They went layer by layer by layer by layer,” he says of the 3-hour rescue by 15 First Responders. “They said, ‘We’re not leaving tonight ’til you get out of this car.'”

We should never be surprised when God “finally” comes to save us. With God, timing is everything. He’s not only meeting your needs but those of 6+ billion people also, with all of our lives intersecting to make greater impacts in the passing. God saves us so that others can see and be both inspired for their own life and witness God at work firsthand.

As you go about your week, don’t become impatient by what God seems to NOT be doing. God is always on the move on your behalf. Stay strong knowing that, like Rennell, God will not leave you until you are safe from the crushing layers of your life! You are loved today!

And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers…He will certainly care for you.” (Matthew 6:30 NLT)

This past Sunday was a scary time as one of our church members fell over with a heart attack just as Sunday School was about to start. While 911 was being called, our people jumped in with CPR and prayer! We literally saw our brother pass away and be brought back to life before our eyes!

The crazy part is hearing all the “coincidences” that took place prior: our nurses happened to be at worship practice that morning, the Fire Department happened to have their first response truck ready & firemen were there that morning, he had been feeling bad but came to church anyway, all of our Prayer Warriors happened to be there… To top it off, he had one stint surgery and is coming home today! This is phenomenal!

You could ask why God didn’t just prevent the occurrence in the first place, but I believe God had something to show us. He still moves mountains just for you! He completes miracles that testify to His working everyday! Trust that God knows exactly how to help you. His joy is not in your tests, but in your testimony! You are loved today!
