“In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” (Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ NLT)

Ahhh, the Bahamas. The coastal attraction of the masses. Thousands flock to its sanctuary every year to escape the doldrums of life. Where else can you see such beautiful beaches, pristine waters, swimming pigs…wait! What?! Pigs?!

Apparently out on Big Major Cay, an uninhabited island, a population of aquatic swine have made headlines. There are various theories on how the wild pigs first got to the island, but they certainly thrive there. They’ve come to associate humans with food and are rumored to be quite friendly. Upon spotting an incoming boat, the pigs leap into the water and paddle over, hoping for a snack.

Pigs in paradise is an oddity. But apparently so is being a person of godly, moral character. We are to be different for a reason! Let Christ shine in you so that people are drawn to the difference of how you live! You are loved today!

“Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you.” (Psalms‬ ‭107‬:‭2‬ NLT)

Milton Greidinger of New York and Concha Watson of Miami, Fla., were in their mid-80s when they first learned to use a personal computer. The experience dramatically changed both their lives, enabling them to reconnect to the world by pushing through the loneliness and isolation that had threatened to engulf them. “It saved my life,” says Greidinger, speaking praise for the Virtual Senior Center, a Microsoft public-private partnership that uses technology to link homebound seniors to activities at their local senior center and to provide better access to community services. “Before this project, I was bored to death. I was just waiting for my time to finish. Now, all of a sudden I’m wide awake. I’m alive again.”

We all have things in our lives that we praise enthusiastically. From makes of cars to types of foods to brands of toilet paper, some things have made a marked difference in our quality of life. But when Jesus changes a life, redeeming them from life’s losses and establishing an eternal prize, THAT should receive our highest praise!

As you go about your day, take time to simply tell God “Thank you!” for saving your life. Then make it an everyday practice to simply declare to others how great God is. He’s the best thing you’ve got! You are loved today!

I did not recognize him as the Messiah…” (John‬ ‭1‬:‭31‬ NLT)

We accuse teens of a lot of things, but heroes?! Two were. Teens Temar Boggs and Chris Garcia were enjoying a summer day in 2013 when they heard that police were outside searching for five-year-old Jocelyn Rojas, who had disappeared from her front yard and had possibly been abducted. With law enforcement and neighbors unsuccessful in their search, the boys canvassed the area on bikes, actually found and pursued the kidnapper, who in turn released the child, allowing the boys to carry her back to safety.

Just as these boys were unlikely heroes, Jesus lived among His peers as an unlikely savior. Even John, His own cousin, had no idea who Jesus really was until this moment at the Jordan River. But when God revealed the truth, everything changed.

There are still those who don’t realize the true identity of the Baby in the Manger, whose birth changed our world forever. Your life is God’s way of revealing Him, allowing others to see Christ in action. Let God use you this week to be an revealer of the marvelous unlikely savior of the world! You are loved today!

Though I am the least deserving of all God’s people, He graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ.” (Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬ NLT)

Paul Chrzan has THE Dream Job: A Lego Master Builder. Master builders, of which there are 40, often have backgrounds in some area of three-dimensional design like sculpture or architecture, and most often have the complex task of building larger-than-life models or designing the official LegoLand sets. Past creations have ranged from a scene from one of Laurent de Brunhoff’s “Babar” books to the U.S. Capitol building. Cool, huh?!

There is a privilege above getting paid to play with toys or any other “dream job”, and that is to save someone’s eternity. This is a role that every believer has the privilege of becoming, but few live up to. And while we may not feel qualified to do it, it takes FAR less training that building a Lego masterpiece, and brings with it blessings that overpower any paycheck!

In this life, few of us will ever get the chance to live out our dream occupations, like testing chocolate or being a rock star. But you do have an eternal privilege to change lives! Do it! You are loved!

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ NLT)

According to businessinsider.com, Paris’s Musée du Louvre is consistently the world’s most visited museum—and for good reason. The grand art museum houses 35,000 masterpieces, from prehistory to contemporary works. Every year more than 8 million people flock there to enjoy its magnificent treasures, the best of humanity’s artistic accomplishments.

Consider, then, that God created you in the same fashion, showing you off to the world at Life’s Museum. By helping you to become the faithful believer He planned for you to become, people are meant to be inspired by the example of your life and give praise to the Master Artist who composed you!

Whether you feel as beautiful as a Rembrandt or an offshoot from one of Picasso’s hot messes, you are still wonderfully made! Live for God’s glory by simply living the life that He sets before you. You are loved today! Be the masterpiece!

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life… (I John 1:1 NKJV)

Growing up a war history nut at Ft. Hood, TX, I heard my fair share of war stories. Just the chance to see their facial reactions as they reminisce is powerful. From WWII to the Persian Gulf, I valued hearing of those moments from those that were actually there.

John opens his book with these powerful words: I write to you what I personally witnessed regarding Christ. He was an authority regarding our Savior. Yet, you are too as you walk the Christ Life, following His footsteps daily. As He speaks to your heart, guides your steps & miraculously answers your prayers, you have a voice of authority as to who God really is & that He truly lives!

So live this weekend in such a way that everyone can see Him living thru you. Exhibit His grace & love knowing that others are watching. Then come to church tomorrow to be refreshed by the very One that you know will be there! You are loved! (1/4/14)
