Lead them by your own good example.” (1 Peter 5:3 NLT)

According to the Washington Post, Brig. Gen. Bryan T. Roberts publicly warned his troops at Fort Jackson, S.C., last spring that he and the Army had “zero tolerance for sexual harassment and sexual assault.” What wasn’t told was that Roberts himself was under investigation by the military over allegations that he physically assaulted one of his mistresses on multiple occasions. A classic case of “Do as I say, not as I do.”

In the Bible, Peter was talking to the elders of the church, admonishing them to behave and live right. Instead of talking a good line, they were to represent Jesus with their lives and actions. The church, then and now, is filled with enough folks that misbehave in Jesus’ name; He’s needing followers that will actually live right.

Does your life represent the Christ Life well to those around you? Live a right life, showing one that shows the example of holiness for others to follow. In the end, it won’t matter how you thought you lived; only God’s opinion will stand! You are loved today!
