According to the New York Post, President Obama says “raising standards” and the level of competition in American schools is the goal of his Race to the Top initiative. But behind the scenes, his Education Department is trying to lower standards to push one race to the top at the expense of others. One real sacrifice for the Common Core is the watering down of overachieving students so that students of lesser grades don’t feel so underachieving.
Psalm 15 opens with a simple question: Who gets to be where You are, God? But the answer is not a simple one because it requires work. It’s a list of high hurdles, not low, easy-to-jump challenges. The implication is that to make holiness and Heaven, you must overachieve. Watering down the recipe won’t make it simpler, just soggy.
Today’s society seems to aim for lesser standards. But if God sets a mark, it means that it is achievable and that the prize will be worth the sacrifice! So come to Church today, ready to be encouraged by God to reach the mark! He wants you to reach the holy places, knowing that the trip was worth the price! You are loved today! See you there!
